Colour

Bold colours and feature walls will play a starring role in this year's most stylish interiors. Here are a few of the major players to watch for:

Navy Blue: Designers are touting deep, rich blues as set to replace black in 2017 on everything from deep blue walls to blue velvet sofas.

Jewel Colours:These vibrant hues started to emerge last Autumn and will continue to show up in homes throughout this year as well. Emerald green, sapphire, amethyst, ruby and topaz will be adorning living rooms, bedrooms and even kitchens with rich, saturated colour.

Earth Tones: There's a return to nature in the air for 2017, and colour will play an important role. Look for earthy terracotta, sand tones, olive greens and more nature-inspired hues.

Materials

Acrylic: New on the scene in 2017 will be acrylic furniture and accessories including tables and chairs to make a real statement.

Copper: Whether treated to retain its shine or allowed to age with character, there are few metals as rich and beautiful as copper. Look for copper accessories, copper light fixtures, and even copper tapware.

Metal Paired with Wood: This trend achieves the popular industrial look and feel while playing off the idea of combining "opposites".

Nature

Live Plants: Thanks to Pantone's colour of the year "Greenery", we're going to see a resurgence in the art of indoor gardens and houseplants.

Stone: Look for natural stone surfaces like marble, sandstone, and granite on floors, counter tops, and basins.
