Our space saving designs mean you can capitalise on small living and still indulge in the big features you can’t live without. If you utilise more than one of these features, your home can have all the feels of large home living, with a fraction of the cleaning and maintenance. ![Swanbuild open plan living area](https://blog.swanbuild.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/2-23.png?width=543&name=2-23.png) **Light colour scheme:** Choose a light coloured palette that will give the feeling of space to your home. Make it a defining feature and the continuity of the shade will further enhance your house. **Open shelving:** Tackle your small space by creating a feature that will make storage sense too. Open shelving in a highlight material can be a special element in your home. You can also use it to display your favourite possessions for all to see. **Mirrors:** It’s no secret that mirrors create the illusion of more space. Built in robe mirror sliding doors can open up a smaller bedroom. Likewise, a mirror splashback in the kitchen or large mirror on the wall in the living area can open up the space. **Indoor/Outdoor Living:** Blur the lines between the indoor and outdoor area and invite the spaciousness of the outside in. The continuation of lines, frameless or disappearing doors will enlarge a living area. **High Ceilings:** In a smaller area, if you can’t expand outwards, you may be able to build up. High ceilings literally add space to your home and create airiness. On a small block you can have a high ceiling as a feature and draw the eye upwards.
