Summer is almost here, and with it comes the prospect of spending more evenings around the barbecue on your alfresco entertaining deck, with great food and great company. For easy entertaining, the best alfresco decks are positioned directly off the kitchen and main living space, making it a breeze to serve food and drinks, and allowing gatherings to flow seamlessly between spaces. Every Swanbuild home comes with the option to add a deck or verandah to allow you to make the most of outdoor living, but some of our very best designs include expansive rear decks that serve as an extra living space, complete with room for dining and lounging furniture. The Sandhurst 25's rear deck is situated under the home's raked ceiling roofline and extends the entire width of the kitchen and living rooms, providing the ultimate entertainer's playground. Complete the deck with a ceiling fan and built-in lighting, and the hardest part of hosting will be getting your guests to leave at the end of the night!
Large Kitchen with Walk-in Pantries
There's no such thing as a good party without good food. Gone are the days when a small pokey kitchen was located away from the action. A good modern design features the kitchen at the heart of the home, right in the middle of all the activity. Some of our best entertaining kitchens feature a kitchen island in the layout, allowing you to face your guests when cooking and ensuring the space doesn't have any 'dead ends' to disrupt the flow. One of the most requested kitchen features we have from our clients is the inclusion of a walk-in or butler's pantry. A walk-in pantry is ideal for keeping the mess out of sight, and the extra storage space means every kitchen gadget and appliance has its own designated spot to call home. Some of the most luxurious examples of walk-in or butler's pantries are found in our Eldorado 44, which features its own separate entrance, and our Beechworth 26, which provides dedicated space for a full-size sink, fridge, and freezer, all located outside the main living area.
Rumpus Rooms
Entertainment isn't always about the grownups. Having enough space for the kids to run around and have friends over makes for a much more peaceful home. While all of our home designs are enhanced by their open-plan living, having a separate room for the kids is a must-have feature if you have the space. Home designs like our Benalla 25 and Oxley 22 feature generously sized rumpus rooms, flexible for any number of uses. A great rumpus room has enough space for comfortable furniture, games, and entertainment, while also giving you the flexibility to use the space however you like. In the Benalla 25, the rumpus has its own built-in storage and is located near the main living area, so it can easily be used as a separate lounge. The Oxley 22's rumpus room includes its own powder room and is ideally situated between two bedrooms, making it the ultimate kid's or teen retreat.
