Less to clean, less to maintain, lower running costs, and more time for the things you actually enjoy. For plenty of people, it's simply [the home that fits this chapter of life](https://blog.swanbuild.com.au/the-rise-of-the-right-sized-home). If you happen to have been looking for our cottages lately, you may have noticed they're no longer listed on their own. They haven't gone anywhere. Our homes 60m² and under now sit within our [10 design series,](https://www.swanbuild.com.au/building-plans/) alongside their larger counterparts. Each one has a new name, so the Anakie Cottage, for example, is now the Arlington 60. It's the same smaller footprint, just easier to find. To make things simple, we've brought all five designs together here. They range from 55m² to 60m², with one- and two-bedroom layouts, and two-bathroom options in the Homestead 55 and Somerset 60. Small doesn't mean compromise, either. Every design makes the most of each square metre, with practical open-plan kitchen and living areas. Whether you're downsizing, planning a holiday home, adding a secondary dwelling or building an investment, there's a compact design to suit. The Arlington 60 has a compact, almost square footprint that sits comfortably on a smaller town block. Two bedrooms share a bathroom, and the kitchen and living come together in one open-plan space. Inside, you'll find two bedrooms, one bathroom and an open-plan kitchen and living area. With 60m² to play with and just one bedroom, there's more room to spread out in the open-plan kitchen and living area. It suits couples, a weekend escape or a secondary dwelling on the family property. At 16.1m long and 4.0m wide, it's the longest, slimmest footprint in the range, so it's well suited to narrow sites. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms give everyone their own space, whether that's visiting family, guests or tenants.
