Round & Curvy Shapes

The best part about this design trend is that you can add it practically anywhere. It calls for rounded curved shapes and can take the form of squiggly lines, wavy profiles, and circular edges that can be placed in any room of your home. Think arch-style mirrors to open up your living spaces, round furniture like ottomans and side tables, and even rugs or throws with scalloped edges to stay on trend.

Sustainability

Just because you can buy everything new doesn't necessarily mean you should. Mixing and matching different eras of furniture and accessories is the easiest way to give your home a modern, eclectic and relaxed style. Check out your local op shop or even, dare we say, Facebook marketplace and see if you can't pick up a retro piece to add to your home. As an added bonus, you are saving the planet by reducing waste, and second-hand pieces are often much cheaper than newly bought new items. Look out for solid timber pieces that will last a lifetime, statement picture frames you can personalise by putting your photos or artwork into, or candlesticks and glassware for a trendy table-scape.

Greenery

Spring is the time for florals, but summer is the time for greenery. While we can't bring the smell of freshly cut grass into the house, we can introduce greenery to make your home feel fresh and alive. If you are new to the indoor plant game, start small with a plant to suit the level of light in your home. A Monstera is a super easy plant to care for and thrives in almost all types of light. Ferns are great for bathrooms as they need indirect light and thrive in humidity. See a plant you like out in the neighbourhood? Ask the owner if you can have a cutting. You might be able to propagate the plant yourself.
