Learn About Our High Quality Modular Homes

Modular homes have many benefits over standard homes constructed on-site using traditional methods. Some key advantages include faster build times, avoiding delays, and reducing materials and waste.

With Swanbuild, our homes also have a higher quality of construction, as 85% of the construction takes place in our controlled factory environment. Read below for the ins and outs of building a modular home with Swanbuild and why you can expect a high-quality home when you choose us as your home building partner.

One Location

Because every step of your home's journey, from the design and construction process to the picking out your finishes and colours, takes place in one location, we have much greater quality control than a traditional home builder. On some construction jobs, conflict can arise between the architect and the building crew covering everything from drawing lacking adequate detail to plans that are unfeasible to deliver under particular money and time constraints. With Swanbuild, there is much more collaboration between our specialist teams throughout the process. Our Drafters and planners know exactly what the construction process entails and what our construction team can deliver. Our Finishing & Colour Selections team know what stage every home is at and can let you know the best options to suit your budget and design. This cohesion ensures that our homes are built not just to a faster timeframe, but to a higher quality standard.

The Design

We have been constructing homes for over 35 years, and in that time, we have constantly been updating and refining them to bring you more modern designs in efficient floor plans and layouts. We work with you to fully understand your site and the best location for your new home. Looking at orientation, topography and access to connections, we find the best place to install your home. Your home will be oriented to receive the maximum amount of winter sun, while the placement of windows and eaves ensures it will also receive adequate shade in summer, increasing your home's energy efficiency.

The Construction Process

Our modular homes are built in our quality-controlled factory environment by our large team of skilled builders and craftspeople. This gives us maximum control over the entire construction process. In addition to avoiding traditional delays that affect building a home on-site, the modular construction process means that our homes are built to very precise and high standards. All Swanbuild homes are built upon galvanised steel floor joists on fully welded, heavy-duty, engineered strongback bases. These steel chassis are constructed in-house within our factory from specialised machinery, and provide your home with one of the strongest possible foundations for a newly built house.

Materials

Our modular construction method does not mean you have to miss out on high-quality materials. Included in the price of your home is a comprehensive list of top-of-the-range materials and fittings for every Swanbuild home. For the exterior of your home you can choose James Hardie or Cemintel Balmoral cladding. To make it ready for the warmer months, your home will also include a Daikin reverse cycle split system air conditioner in the main living area. In the living and meals area, the flooring inclusions are a choice of Vinyl Plank OR Tassie Oak polished timber floorboards. Fittings for your home include Clipsal heat lamps and powerpoints/switches in all rooms and Chrome-plated Wels 5-Star brass mixer taps in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. The kitchen inclusions are a chef’s dream, with Westinghouse appliances included in your home price.
