Building a home is something Donna and Damien know a thing or two (or four!) about.
Having already built three homes before, they weren't first-time buyers navigating the unknown. They knew what worked, what didn't, and what mattered most when choosing a builder.

Donna & Damien's Fourth Build: "I'd do it again in a heartbeat"
When it came time to build their fourth home, a Benalla 15 in Rosebud, they knew exactly what they were looking for.
Seven months after moving in, their verdict couldn't be clearer.
"This is the fourth build, but it was the easiest. The whole journey has been a really pleasurable, enjoyable, professional experience. I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
Why they chose modular (and Swanbuild)
Like many Australians planning to build, Donna and Damien spent plenty of time researching their options before making a decision. One of their biggest considerations wasn't just finding a beautiful home, it was finding confidence in the builder behind it.
"We did a lot of research, understanding that a lot of builders are finding that they're going cash flow positive to cash flow negative."
So they looked closely at modular construction.
For Donna and Damien, modular offered something they felt traditional building couldn't always guarantee: faster build times, greater certainty and confidence in the finished product.
"The first decision was to go modular because of the speed of build and because of the quality guarantee."
But what ultimately convinced them was Swanbuild itself.
"We were blown away by the finish quality of Swanbuild and their approach. It was just so positive toward the customer."

A home designed for the way they live
Donna and Damien chose the Benalla 15, a thoughtfully designed home from Swanbuild's Life Made range that balances traditional country charm with modern open-plan living.
Inside, the spacious family, dining and kitchen area has become the heart of the home, a place for cooking, entertaining and relaxing.
The generous island bench creates a natural gathering point, while the seamless connection to the optional rear deck makes it easy to enjoy Rosebud's outdoor lifestyle, whether it's morning coffee overlooking the garden or long summer evenings outside.
The private master suite, complete with a walk-in robe and ensuite, provides a peaceful retreat away from the rest of the home, while the separate study offers flexibility for working from home or pursuing hobbies. A well-positioned second bedroom and family bathroom make the layout equally suited to visiting family, grandchildren or overnight guests.
Rather than choosing a home that simply looked good on paper, Donna and Damien found one that genuinely complemented the way they wanted to live.
A building experience that put people first
Ask Donna and Damien what stood out most about Swanbuild, and they won't start by talking about the home, but rather the people.
"It becomes about people. What are we going to do to make this perfect for you?"
For them, Swanbuild's biggest point of difference was its customer-first mindset.
"Their point of difference is that they work from the customer backwards."
Having built several homes before, they noticed the contrast immediately.
"Whereas every other building company we've spoken to and experienced with works from the product forward."
That philosophy wasn't just something Swanbuild talked about, it was reflected throughout the entire build. When an issue arose during construction, it wasn't left sitting in an inbox or pushed through layers of management.
"One of the directors actually heard about it. The first thing he did was get on the phone... to make sure that we're happy and that everything's fine."
For Donna and Damien, that level of involvement spoke volumes.
"It just gives you so much confidence in what they're doing."
The same care extended to everyone involved in the project.
"Everybody took it on like it was their baby, not just our baby."
That genuine ownership gave them confidence throughout the entire journey, knowing they were supported by people who cared just as much about the outcome as they did.

Seven months later, it still feels like home
Moving day is often where a builder's role ends. For Swanbuild, it didn't.
Now, around seven months after moving into their Rosebud home, Donna and Damien still speak just as positively about the experience. Their new home has also become something of a local talking point.
"To this day, people still say, 'I know your house. I saw it arrive.'"
Of course, moving into any new home comes with the occasional adjustment, but what impressed them most was how quickly Swanbuild responded.
After reporting a minor repair, they sent photos through to the construction manager.
"Within 48 hours... they sorted it."
For Donna and Damien, it reinforced everything they'd experienced throughout the build. Support didn't stop once they received the keys.
More than just a modular home
For many people considering modular construction, one question still lingers: Will it really look and feel like a traditional home?
Donna and Damien don't hesitate with their answer.
"I think people considering modular construction need to approach it with tremendous confidence."
In fact, they believe most people wouldn't even know their home was modular.
"I would challenge anyone to work out that it's actually modular if they hadn't seen the place arrive... because it is that good."
It's a powerful endorsement, especially from homeowners who've experienced the building process multiple times before.
For Donna and Damien, Swanbuild didn't just deliver a beautiful home, It delivered a building experience they'd happily repeat (and have!)
