While you can look at a floor plan and see our home renders to give you an idea of how your new home may look, the process of walking through one of our homes is often the real decider for excited new clients.
Nothing beats seeing for yourself the quality of the inclusions, walking on the floors, opening the cupboards and getting a first-hand idea of the space you could be living in. That's why when deciding what home to build as our next display home, we quickly settled on selecting an Amended Eden 20 design.
The Amended Eden 20 is a perfect showcase for our first home that has been upgraded with our Sustainable Living Package to achieve NetZero status.
What is the Sustainable Living Package
The Sustainable Living Package is a game-changer for any Swanbuild home design. It's designed to address the rising energy bills that families face, the environmental impact of the construction process and energy consumption when running a home. By choosing this upgrade, you're not just investing in a home, but also in a sustainable future for your family. As part of the Sustainable Living Package added to the Amended Eden 20, the home is built to meet NetZero status.
What is NetZero
NetZero homes are designed and built to generate as much energy as they consume. Essentially, this means that your new NetZero home will not cost to power and heat as all the energy you need is provided by the home. Also, by using solar energy generation and superior insulation to minimise energy expenditure, it ensures your home has a minimal carbon footprint, which is better for the environment, and all of our futures.
How do we achieve NetZero
To achieve NetZero status for new homes, we include a number of upgrades to the home as well as considering the orientation on your site carefully, to maximise natural light and heat retention, as well as capture airflow and reduce direct summertime sunlight.
For the Amedned Eden 20 display home, which has an energy rating of 8.1, we achieved NetZero by installing additional insulation to keep the home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The added insulation also massively reduces the amount of heat lost through traditional heat loss factors like gaps between walls and air leaks. We also included the installation of PVC windows throughout the home. PVC windows are superior to aluminium and timber as they last longer and have increased insulation.
The Amended Eden 20 display home also includes solar panels and a battery system. The solar and battery combination means that your home can generate and store its energy at the sunniest and usually less in demand times, and use it again once the sun has gone down and energy demand goes up.
The floor plan
The Amended Eden 20 has also been upgraded to give you loads of usable space. An entry way with built-in bench seat welcomes you into the spacious home, giving you a place to store coats, jackets and footwear to help keep the rest of the home clean. The vast open-plan kitchen and living area draws you further in, and has been upgraded to include a super long window seat with extra storage underneath, a walk-in pantry, and a built-in desk space, so you’ll have plenty of room for work, rest and play.
The home also has a wide verandah directly off the living space so you can easily enjoy a coffee outside on those warm mornings, or sit back and admire the view as the sun goes down. There’s also a separate study to give you a dedicated area to work from home or for the kids to get their homework done. One of the most exciting upgrades to the floorplan is the inclusion of a full-width verandah that opens off the main bedroom, offering a fantastic space to enjoy the outdoors, easily accessible from the bedroom, making it the ultimate parent's retreat.
When designing this floor plan, we wanted to make a home that worked for today’s modern lifestyles, with areas that are perfect for coming together with family and friends for meals or relaxing with a film. On top of this, we know that having your own space (or space for the kids!) is also very important, so the home maintains some more private areas that allow you to unwind at the end of the day or enjoy a lazy morning.
The finishes
We have filled the amended Eden 20 with quality upgrades and premium inclusions to give you the best idea of what a Swanbuild home can look and feel like.
For the kitchen and living area, the literal heart of the home we have included upgrades to make the Amedned Eden 20 not only look great but function well; they include:

- 900mm Westinghouse induction cooktop
- 800mm Westinghouse integrated rangehood
- 900mm Westinghouse fan forced oven
- Concorde II DC ceiling fan
- Nirvana Gooseneck kitchen mixer
For the home's bathrooms and laundry, we have also added upgrades, including:
- Nirvana Gooseneck kitchen mixer – for the laundry
- Round vessel - white basin above counter
- Diamond bath/shower mixer
- Nirvana 250mm brass shower rose paired with Nirvana 300mm curved wall shower arm
The rest of the home also enjoys elegant design touches, such as the floating taps in the bathrooms, as well as the use of darker timber and bench-tops that really pop against the lighter tiling and warm wooden cabinetry. The spacious bedrooms are no exception either, thanks to the large windows that give you plenty of natural light and allow you to enjoy the view, while the fixtures and fittings here have function and form with simple and stylish light fittings and ceiling fans, finished with comfy carpet.
The whole home is packed full of thoughtful additions that not only enhances the look, but also adds more comfort too. All of this in a modern, contemporary design that maintains touches of the classic country look that we all love. You really have to see it for yourself!

The Amended Eden 20 display home is now open for tours at our Bendigo location on Monday - Friday, along with our stunning Benalla 22 display home. If you can't make it to Bendigo, our Swan Hill location has our recently opened Sandhurst 25 display home.
